The automotive industry in the world continues to change day by day. Each innovation is crazier and more different than the previous one. Many companies spend millions of dollars to promote their vehicles. However, one company separated itself from the others by doing something very different from the others. This company is the German automotive giant BMW! BMW introduced the new generation X6 in an unusual way. They turned a BMW X6 to the world's blackest vehicle. In this article we will focus on the BMW X6 Vantablack!
What is the Vantablack?
So, what is this famous Vantablack? It is officially the darkest black pigment in the world with carbon nanotubes in its structure. It is also the blackest material in the world. This material can also be applied as a paint to various surfaces. Vantablack doesn't create any light reflection by absorbing 99.6% of the natural light coming onto it. Thus, unlike standard black, it becomes a remarkable material without any reflections on it.

The Vantablack material which is developed by Surrey Nanosystems in 2014 was applied to a vehicle for the first time in history with the contributions of BMW. Many car manufacturers wanted to use this nano-technology paint, but Surrey Nanosystems only accepted BMW's offer. Ben Jensen, founder and CEO of Surrey Nanosystems, explains this offer with these words “We have previously turned down offers from various car manufacturers. The BMW X6 and its special, expressive design made the idea fun for us.” In collaboration with BMW and Surrey Nanosystems, the body of a new generation BMW X6 is coated with nano-technology Vantablack paint. Due to the feature of the paint, when the vehicle is fully covered, it can become unselectable. Therefore, the vehicle body lines were visibly covered. BMW design team chief Hussein Al Attar explains this design with these words “In vehicles, we usually talk about silhouettes and proportions instead of lines and lines. Vantablack VBx2 coating also highlights this aspect of the car design. I'm very proud of the latest BMW X6, also from the bold and expressive surfaces. Vantablack emphasizes this, albeit in an unusual way.” Although there are still discussions about the departure of the vehicle, BMW said that the company desires to see the vehicle on the road. However, there is serious concern about whether the vehicle will jeopardize the safety of traffic during night conditions. Time will tell if this concept will be allowed to go into traffic.
